Four Calls for Kingwood

July 23, 2024

Starting at 9:10 this morning, we were paged for a fire alarm at Camp Dawson. Alarm turned out to be a false alarm. Just after clearing from that call, we were paged for a tree down near the Company House Rd/South Preston Highway area for a tree down. After a search of the area, no tree was located. The third call came in just before 1PM, for a MVC with injuries . Squad 5 was stood down by law enforcement while en route. At the end of the day, at 9:40pm, Squad 5 went en route to a single vehicle MVC with injuries and possible entrapment on Veterans Memorial Highway near Western Drive. Company 5's crew of 7 shut down Route 7 went to work to stabilize the vehicle, Chief 5 made the decision to extricate the driver via the driver's side due to the injuries sustained, then assist Snyder's Towing in removing the tree the vehicle had struck. The pick-up was the only thing holding the tree up, so Snyder's decided to make a control fall with the tree, using their tow trucks. KAMP Ambulance, Terra Alta Ambulance, WVSP and Kingwood City Police were also on scene. Route 7 opened up just after 11pm.
