This afternoon, around 1:45pm, Company 5 was alerted for a brush fire on Chapel Mine Road. Automatic mutual aid for brush fires dispatched Company 12 along with Company 5. Company 5 went en route with a crew of 5 with units 52, 54, and 51. Company 5 asked for manpower and a brush unit out of Company 12, which brought two units and six personnel. Company 1 was also requested, but later on stood down when personnel made a quick attack on the fire and quickly stopped the spread. Overall, about 1/2 an acre had burned. Crews used small discharge hose lines, blowers, and rakes to stop the spread of the fire and used water packs to help with the hotspots. Division of Forestry and Department of Natural Resources also had personnel on scene. After almost an hour on scene, 5-2 terminated the command and all units returned to station.
